Dear friends and supporters,
Here’s the latest update on our journey to bring the Interlochen Depot to life.
As many of you know, we’ve been working closely with Green Lake Township to secure the necessary approvals to open De Food Truck this season and begin developing the Interlochen Depot - a community centered gathering space that celebrates community, food, nature, and inclusivity.
While we previously came to a verbal agreement that would have allowed De Food Truck to open for the 2025 season on the north end of the property, we are still waiting on the official Land Use Permit to be issued. Unfortunately, additional conditions have now been introduced that were not previously communicated, creating further delays.
We are working in good faith and have already submitted all previously requested documentation, including paperwork from Environmental Health and a delineation sketch. We’ve also agreed to stake the area where the food truck will be placed, a request that only came after initial requirements were supposedly met.
While this is frustrating, we’re committed to staying the course. Our goal has always been to work collaboratively and transparently, and we’re determined to open for the 2025 season soon even if it's on a smaller scale to start.
The Interlochen Depot remains a long-term vision: an outdoor venue with a nature preserve, food trucks, live entertainment, and space for community gathering. Every step forward, even the slow ones are helping to shape this future.
Thank you for continuing to stand with us. Your voices, your signatures, and your encouragement have helped us push forward when things got tough. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way — and we hope to see you this summer for good food and good company.
With appreciation,
Toby & the Interlochen Depot Team
