California has a strong policy to assure parents support their children, but family court judges and commissioners seem to be checking that policy at the door of family court. In Santa Clara County wealthy parents with stock options, closely held corporations and private businesses are able to duck child support, often paying a lawyer millions to do so. A local group is evaluating court files and support orders and finds that lawyer fees , paid for one spouse to duck support obligations, are up to 2000% of what the child support payments would be. A report is being complied that will shock America. Judges in Santa Clara are imputing parents for phantom income, and ignoring other income hidden in " perks" and being the veil of corporations. Support calculators are so complicated that most lawyers don't know how to use them. The calculation should be simple: Parents should pay more for their children than they pay their divorce lawyer !
