A UPDATE
hey everyone, quick update on where this has all gone so far.
i emailed every single mp in canada, all 337 of them, and every alberta mla, all 87, back on october 7. then i followed up with everyone who didn't answer on october 16.
most of what i got back was redirects or nothing at all. federal says talk to your mp, provincial says it's federal, nobody owns the problem. my own mp, dalwinder gill, hasn't answered three letters. my mla, irfan sabir, hasn't answered either.
but some of it has actually gone somewhere. the canada truck operators association took my case up and asked the government for targeted bridge financing for small carriers, including major equipment costs, not just tariffs. they said they'll share my house e-petition when it's live. mp shuvaloy majumdar's office got the library of parliament to do real research on my case, first office that actually looked into it instead of sending me somewhere else. and just today, mp jenna sudds said she'll advocate for my three priorities and raise them with her colleagues in parliament. don davies' office in vancouver said the ndp caucus is pushing for action for small trucking businesses, and they said they'd put my email on his desk so he can reference my situation in his ongoing work. i also emailed the house transport committee and asked them to consider studying the gap for small carriers like me.
i've also been in contact with the globe and mail, and ctv news in calgary covered the trucking insolvency story, though they didn't include me in it.

and the big one, my house of commons e-petition draft is saved. we're just waiting on my five supporters to confirm through email, then it goes to my sponsor mp and it can go live. it's not live yet, but it's closer than it's ever been.
this is still about every owner-operator, not just me. any one of us is one breakdown away from the same thing, and there's no federal program for any of us right now. thanks for sticking with me.
