The Department of Veterans Affairs is apparantely interested in conducting research into cannabis... well, kinda. The VA mostly want to substantiate their preconceived notions regarding the herb. "It's bad." According to this report, a number of individuals were hired to investigate hand picked cannabis studies, so they can offer their "professional opinion" on the matter.
There are a few things wrong with this set up however, not the least of which is that these people are under a gag order. The VA also refuses to share with the public which studies they used to reach their stated conclusion. I'm willing to bet they didn't speak with Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, or anyone else in Israel.
As American tax payers, we should all be interested in learning what scientific data that research produced. You know, because the National Institutes of Health paid for all that research to be conducted on cannabis for decades, research which then led to the creation of a subsidized medical cannabis program within the state of Israel.
For me, and many veterans I know, cannabis has been a life saver. Personally, I'll trust my 7 years of personal research over the VA hype.
Thoughts?
