Cupertino voters have the opportunity to vote for grassroots candidates, Liang Chao and Jon Willey, this November. They will listen to residents.
Liang Chao - CUSD school board member whose values are “integrity first, residents are the drivers, and families and schools are the center.” Her platform includes holding all developers equally accountable, developing stronger policies to protect the city, reliable and efficient public transportation, and developing quality affordable housing.
Jon Willey – Engineer, volunteer youth basketball coach who has coached over 400 children, and frequent city council speaker. His priorities are to bring the voice of residents to all city decisions, sensible growth to development, and housing for teachers, public service personnel, and seniors. He has been a proponent of a Community Friendly Vallco and right-sizing The Oaks development. A grassroots candidate.
In contrast - Savita Vaidhyanathan, Hung Wei, and Orrin Mahoney have been avid proponents of the largest Vallco proposals put forth by the developer & are backed by chamber of commerce and developers that conduct business before the city.

Also in the news lately has been Vallco in Cupertino. The city council recently narrowly approved (3 to 2) a massive plan for 1.75 MILLION sqft of office (~8000-10000 workers) and ~2700 apartments. We recommend you go to BetterCupertino.org for Vallco updates, as they have been staying on top of it and are gathering signatures for a Referendum to allow residents the chance to vote on the proposal. If you are a Cupertino voter, head on down to the library and sign the referendum petition (times listed on the Better Cupertino website), and make your voice heard! Those in surrounding cities in favor of sensible growth will thank you for it!
