Thank you all for signing and sharing our petition #ASchoolNurseInEverySchool . We are now over 2,500 signatures and creeping towards 3,000.
We take our campaign to the House of Lords on Tuesday 8th October and then on to No.10 to deliver our petiton. We will be publishing our survey report following the launch event. The Forgotten Frontline: Public Health School Nursing Unveiling the Realities of School & Public Health Nursing in the UK – A Survey Report. It shares the great work that school nurses do to improve the health and well-being of school-aged children and young people and their passion and commitment to their roles. However, the report exposes the postcode lottery of provision across the country and the challenges faced in providing thigh quality, safe and effective services due to the declining numbers of school nurses after years of disinvestment. Our children and young people deserve more, they are our future and deserve #ASchoolNurseInEverySchool.
This Government must turn the tide and invest in our children and young people. Investment in prevention of ill health, promotion and protection of health and well-being and reduce health inequalities. School nurses are specialist community public health nurses who are the only health professional providing universally accessible health services to children and young people 5-19, 25 if they have additional needs. School nurses have the expertise to work with children, young people, their parents and carers in school and education settings, and the wider community, taking a public health approach to improving health and well-being.
Please continue to share our petition so that we can give children and young people what they deserve. Let’s make sure the next generation enjoy the best health and well-being that they can 🙏🏻
