Hello Petition Supporters,

My name is Alexandra, and I'm on the Civic Engagement team at Change.org. Our team works to connect petition starters and supporters with the public officials who have the power to act on the issues you care about. I spoke with Council Member Rahman Johnson, who was the sponsor of Ordinance 2025-0720, the legislation creating local film incentives in Jacksonville.

Council Member Johnson said he was happy to see strong support on Change.org for the ordinance. As someone who spent years as an anchor, reporter, and performer, and who is a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity, he shared that he is a huge advocate for this initiative and for the growth of the arts and entertainment industry in Jacksonville.

He also confirmed that the legislation has already passed, as mentioned in the petition starter’s recent update. The new film incentives are now officially in place — a major win for the city’s creative community and those who supported this effort.
