Dear Lincoln High School Supporters and Community Members,

I'm sending this update to anyone who supported the Wallingford Park project. Please take a couple of minutes to review the proposal SPS and the Parks Department is recommending for a new athletic field and track at Lower Woodland Park. 
 
We have a critical opportunity right now to secure a full-size, multi-use recreational field (Project #2) at Woodland Park. This project is essential for Lincoln High School and provides a much-needed, reliable venue for local recreational clubs like soccer, lacrosse, and ultimate frisbee.

As was emphasized by students, staff and local residents at the November 6 community meeting, this project addresses critical needs:

• Impact on Academics: Because our teams currently have to share distant practice fields, many students are not able to get home to start their homework until late at night.
• Fiscal Responsibility: The money to build the fields has already been collected and must be used for fields. Continuing to bus students to other locations is an unnecessary drain on your tax dollars.
• Opposition Addressed: Though originally opposed by local BMX riders, SPS and Seattle Parks successfully worked with the group to relocate the bike jumps, ensuring the preferred design (Option A) moves forward while accommodating all park users.

We need your voice to make this happen. Opponents of the project are actively submitting comments to the City, and it is vital that Seattle Public Schools (SPS), Seattle Parks, and our local representatives hear overwhelming support from those who want to see this field built.

This essential facility provides our students with critical space for P.E. and sports, reduces reliance on bussing, and offers significant recreational benefits for local clubs (soccer, lacrosse, etc.). I am encouraged by the resolution to relocate the bike jumps, which demonstrates SPS and Seattle Parks’ commitment to accommodating all community users. Please proceed with the preferred design immediately.
