Your support has made a difference! Secretary General Fatma Samoura has agreed to meet at FIFA’s House of Football in Zurich for a summit on the discriminatory stadium ban. This is the first official FIFA acknowledgement that Iran is violating the rights of half the population in Iran by excluding women and girls from soccer stadiums.
Our message to FIFA is that the time is now to insist Iran plays by the rules, and that discrimination against women and girls in Iran brings shame to the game.
Please continue to sign, share, and comment on the #NoBan4Women petition to demand the ban excluding women from attending stadiums to watch sports must end. I will deliver the petition with your 200,000+ signatures and messages of support.
I will be joined by representatives of @OpenStadiums and the Sports Rights Alliance, whose members—including the International Trade Union Confederation—sponsored a second petition raising an additional 10,000 signatures. Thank you to all our supporters worldwide!
The meeting with FIFA is a positive step, but our collective effort will not stop until the ban is removed!
Sincerely,
Maryam
