Petition updateSupport Indigenous Human & Civil Rights in Nebraska (US)"We Are Here. We Will Remain. We Are Strong

As mentioned in the Change.org petition, on Monday, April 25, 2022, the City Council of Lincoln, Nebraska held a hearing and voted 5 to 2 in support of a Wilderness Crossing development, despite substantial opposition from Indigenous residents and their allies. Hence the City Council’s “hearing” turned a mostly deaf ear to opponents. Even worse, as they violated Indigenous Human and Civil Rights, several council members would not even make eye contact with the Native Americans attending the hearing, therefore both literally and figuratively turning a blind eye to Indigenous Peoples.

However the Native Americans attending that hearing are the descendants of the Original Nations in what is now called the United States. They have deep ancestral roots dating back for millennia well before the arrival of Europeans. Those descendants are here in Lincoln, Nebraska! Remain in Lincoln, Nebraska! And, are strong! Please enhance their strength by signing this petition. If you have already signed, then thank you! Please continue to share this petition locally as well as far and wide!

If you have not yet read about the "asks" from the Indigenous Peoples and community of the Niskithe Prayer camp, please check out the website below:

PS: Since this first update and the accompanying video, the mayor of Lincoln, Nebraska has failed to support the Indigenous residents of Lincoln/Nebraska. Please stay tuned for additional updates.
