I dreamt of you last night, you were still here,
Soft breath against my cheek, so close, so near.
I held you so tight, my arms full of grace,
Your warm little body, your sweet, gentle face.

The world was at peace, if only for then,
My Peggy was home, my heart whole again.
No flames, no fear, no final goodbye,
Just you in my arms as the night drifted by.

But morning betrayed me with cold, empty air,
I reached out in hope, and you were not there.
The silence was cruel, the room felt so wide,
And all I could do was curl up and hide.

The tears came like rain, heavy and slow,
For the dream gave me you, then let you go.
Still I carry that moment, soft as your fur,
A whisper of you, of how things once were.

So I’ll dream of you nightly, my heart’s little light,
And hold you again, in my sleep, in the night.
For love never leaves, and though we’re apart,
You live in my dreams, and deep in my heart 🤍
