The current tally of this petition and the frequent updates for this phase of the Eden Cemetery restoration effort are now complete. Thank you to everyone who supported the petition. It received 3,816 views, 186 shares, and 18 paid promoters. Through this petition, valuable connections were made for the Eden Cemetery.
Based on St. Lucie County's public statement regarding its position on the cemetery, it was decided not to attend the November 4 commission meeting. The next step is working with the Florida Department of State Historic Cemeteries Program, which is now assisting with updating the cemetery's master file and guiding the restoration process. Documentation put together in the Eden Cemetery Source Book has been shared with St. Lucie County and the Florida Department of State to support the effort.
A TCPalm reporter also met with members of the Richards family at the cemetery on Friday, October 31 (Halloween) to discuss the cemetery's history and future.
