COF grant application submitted!

Hello supporters!

I was able to get the application package submitted to SF Rec & Park last night. At submission time there were 337 signatures with 142 from SF, 60 from a McLaren Park neighborhood and 15 from outside the continental United States (Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, France and Germany). Six passionate letters of support were also attached.

After many conversations with RPD staff, it became clear that the only feasible location was at Sunnydale Ave next to the McLaren Bike Park pump track. The SF Urban Riders, original instigators for the pump track, provided a letter of support for the multi-use court. Neighbors of the McLaren Park Collaborative meeting on March 11 were supportive of the idea if it was not at the Louis Sutter or Mansell courts locations. A court at the Sunnydale location would be transform an unfinished gravel area into a recreation hub close to the Sunnydale and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods. The project was awarded bonus point for serving Environment Justice Communities.

The COF applications will go to an independent scoring committee for evaluation over the next couple months. The final recommendations will be reviewed by the Rec & Park commission this summer for final determinations. I'll keep you posted!
