I am delighted to share with you the following statement from Donna Jones, Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight:

Dear supporter,

I write to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you for signing the petition in support of the statement I made regarding the recent summer riots and unrest. Your support has been invaluable, especially in light of the number of formal complaints made about me to the Hampshire Police and Crime Panel.

On Tuesday 1st October a formal hearing was scheduled, and 49 formal complaints were considered alleging I had broken the Nolan Principles, which govern people in public life, such as me. I am pleased to confirm that all 49 complaints were dismissed and the panel expressed the opinion that as an elected person, I am entitled to an opinion and free to express it. They also noted that people that do not agree with me have the right not to vote for me in the future. 

I want to highlight that the dismissal of all complaints against me was a positive outcome, and it reassures me that our community values integrity and accountability. Your voices have played an essential role in this process, demonstrating the strength of our collective commitment to justice and the safety of our community.

In the face of challenges, it’s heartening to know that I have a dedicated group of individuals who believe in the importance of transparency and dialogue. Your encouragement and support have reinforced my resolve to continue advocating for the issues that matter most to us all.
