Petition updateSupport Emergency Help for Families in Crisis in OKCThe Hidden Gap in Survivor Services

Most people don’t realize that in Oklahoma, over half of survivors seeking shelter are turned away because there simply aren’t enough beds available. That means women, children, and even pets are left without a safe option in their most desperate moments.

We had 4 calls today alone from survivors, all with children, that were turned away from shelters and told to call us for help. The sad reality is that shelters want to help, and they do when they can, but they only have so much space to do so.

Bridge2Safety OKC is changing that. Instead of telling a survivor “we have no room,” we place them in a safe, confidential hotel immediately. This buys time to stabilize, breathe, and connect with long-term resources.

This petition matters because it shows our city leaders that the community refuses to accept “no room” as an answer. Survivors deserve safety the moment they ask for help.

Every signature is proof that Oklahoma is ready to close this dangerous gap. Thank you for learning, sharing, and standing with survivors.
