The extension to late August was granted after a series of communication issues made it near impossible for the team to complete the submission on time, beginning with Dan being transferred to Macquarie Correctional Centre without warning in June. This maximum security facility is double the distance for his legal team to travel, and can’t easily be done in a single day. Last week’s global IT outage also impacted the prison and had an adverse effect on Dan’s ability to work on the submission, communicate, and send through edits and notes for six days.

Dan has already spent more than 21 months in maximum security prisons with no Australian charges or criminal history, based on US allegations that were not even a crime in Australia.
