Australia Day is a good day to consider what it means to be an Australian citizen. How is it that one of our own – father of six Aussie kids, Daniel Duggan – is left to rot in solitary confinement on our own soil for 15 months with no local charges at the behest of a foreign power? Where is our sovereignty? Please consider making a small donation to help us pay the bills and ramp up our fight for Dan’s freedom: https://chuffed.org/project/freedanduggan-campaign
Dan became an Australian citizen at an Australia Day ceremony in 2012.
Now he remains in solitary at Lithgow maximum security prison awaiting extradition to the US on allegation he strongly denies. He has not been charged with anything in Australia because he broke no laws here, but he has been given no opportunity to prove his innocence in an Australian court.
I’m sure that the thousands of men and women becoming new citizens in ceremonies across the country today expect more from their new Government.
Dan’s imprisonment takes a toll on his physical and mental health every single day.
These terrible anniversaries are hard on Dan, so please also consider writing to him and showing your support: Daniel Duggan, c/- Lithgow Correctional Centre PO Box 666, Lithgow NSW 2790.
