👏Thank you for your support on the Indian Creek Trail!

Last night, 6 of the 7 councillors voted to approve (Instagram video) an annexation and rezoning of the Campbell property, which would grant the easement to the Indian Creek Trail and connect students walking and biking from The Heights to Hood River Valley High School!

I came straight from an 8 hour train and CAT bus ride from Vancouver, BC, to make public comment in support of the decision. I was remissed in my remarks not to thank Councillors Mark Zanmiller and Megan Saunders for their years of service, as this was their final meeting.

To view the whole hearing, including numerous questions answered about wetlands and what is / not possible for development, the Youtube is available (minute 0:51:00 - 3:08:30).

It's been decades of scheming to connect this trail artery and last night was a giant step forward. Students will have a greenway to schools and play and and our community will get a greenway to essential business services, and hopefully more housing.

The good news didn't stop there. City Manager Abigail Adams announced that we won the City Threads Accelerated Mobility Playbook grant to help the city develop an implementation plan to fast track the Safe Routes to School plan infrastructure recommendations. Sincerely,
