Update on some exciting things! We have a mascot! We now have the fun task of naming this chicken and sailfish duo who are making a splash in Martin County! Join our FB group, to help name them and make some taglines. 

We're looking for some people to join our Backyard Chicken Committee. Duties would include helping with research on county regulations (to help gather examples from other counties and build our own group of regulations), meeting to discuss and share information, and possibly helping out with an event or two. Please let me know if you're interested. This could be a great opportunity for high schoolers as well to get involved in a community project, share the petition with others, and be an advocate for agriculture in our community. Volunteer hours? I think it's great when we see young people getting involved in the community. They could come to speak at public comment which is a great way to build those public speaking skills.

We are 5 signatures away from reaching 100 on our petition and it's been shared 45 times!! We still have a long way to go, so please continue to share this petition and our FB group with those Martin County residents who you think may be interested and listen to those with concerns to pass them on so we know which ones we need to focus on to address in public comment and regulations. As a helpful hint, you're more likely to get a signature from someone when you text them. So it makes an impact to ask people directly.
