Dear signatories, Exactly one year ago Antoine Deltour was accused by the Luxembourg authorities following a complaint by an international accountancy firm with whom he had been employed. The accusations against him (theft, violation of professional confidentiality and business secrets...) mean that he could face the risk of a jail sentence of up to 5 years and a heavy fine. These accusations occurred a few weeks after worldwide press releases about the LuxLeaks revelations which were based on the documents which Antoine had copied from his employer. These revelations showed, for the first time, how hundreds of large companies operated to avoid taxes. Since then, the revelations have put pressure on the European and international authorities: they have enabled some progress towards more fiscal justice. Albeit modest, these advances are going in the right direction. For Antoine, living for a year as an accused person has been difficult; it means constantly having to justify his actions, having to wait for progress in the procedures of the Luxembourg justice system and also having to prepare his defence with his lawyers. But Antoine's morale is good, in particular thanks to the support of you all. The trial should take place in Spring 2016. In the meantime, the support has to continue and to increase as a reminder to everyone that Antoine's actions were a civic gesture which has benefited the general interest.
