Over 1,000 signatures and still climbing!
Thank you for signing the petition to bring these all-weather fields to Callan Park.
But there's one more hurdle - one more favour we need to ask:
Please make a formal submission on these Development Applications, supporting the all-weather fields at Balmain Road and Waterfront Sports Fields, by 11:59PM Monday February 9.
The easy way

- Type "Callan Park" in the search box
- Click on one of the all-weather field DAs on exhibition:

Follow the same process to lodge a submission for the other DA.
To make it easy, we’ve included a series of short talking points you can use to create your own submission. Please select a few that matter to you and put them in your own words.
- The proposed all-weather fields are located on existing sporting fields, not new areas of parkland.
- Sport, and football in particular, is part of the living heritage of Callan Park.
- Local sporting fields are already heavily used, and grass surfaces struggle to cope with current demand in a heavily populated urban area.
- Frequent closures and cancellations due to field condition place pressure on surrounding grass fields and reduce opportunities for participation.
- Reliable community sporting facilities support physical health, mental wellbeing and social connection for people of all ages.
- Well-designed all-weather fields provide safe, consistent playing conditions, allowing better use of limited sporting space.
- Increased reliability improves scheduling certainty for players, families, volunteers and clubs.
- All-weather fields help spread usage more evenly, reducing wear and tear on other grass fields across the park and surrounding suburbs.
- These modern all-weather fields use contemporary materials and design standards to address any heat, injury or microplastics issues.
- These upgrades allow sport to be managed more efficiently on existing fields, leaving over 55 hectares of open space for general public use.
- The proposals represent a balanced and practical response to growing participation and limited sporting space.
- For these reasons, I support the proposed all-weather field upgrades at Callan Park
The slightly longer way
Use the above points and your own personal experience as a player, parent, coach, manager or volunteer to add a longer, personalised submission as an attachment.
The more individual submissions that are made in support of the fields, the greater the impact.
But most important of all is to make your submission by 11:59PM Monday February 9.
Thank you for helping our clubs, our community and the wider football family bring safe, reliable all-weather fields to Callan Park, for the benefit of everyone!
