Fellow Chicken Champions,
Thank you to everyone who took action for chickens in the run-up to the Co-op's Annual General Meeting last Saturday. I'm delighted to say that multiple AGM attendees raised questions at the meeting about when Co-op would sign the Better Chicken Commitment. Co-op was pushed to address the issue in the meeting and said it would be running some trials with chicken raised to BCC standards. At this point, following years of dialogue with animal protection charities, small trials are too-little-too-late. It appears to be an attempt to simply avoid doing what's right.
It's time for the supermarkets to take meaningful action for chickens!
Morrisons AGM is also coming up soon, and they've released an email address for submitting questions for discussion at the AGM. Let's keep the heat up and make sure Morrisons knows we haven't forgotten how badly they are treating chickens!
Will you take a moment to email company.secretary@morrisonsplc.co.uk today and ask when Morrisons will be doing the right thing by signing up to the Better Chicken Commitment?
Thank you for all your dedication, and for standing with us.
