Plight of the Hermies
23 juil. 2018
TAKE ACTION: If you're in Virginia, join us for a peaceful protest for hermit crabs THIS SATURDAY (details here: http://bit.ly/2mCAa6X). If you're elsewhere, you can still help these animals: Send a quick email to Sunsations' Corporate Manager to let him know that as long as the chain sells hermit crabs as souvenirs, you'll take your business elsewhere! Use our sample below or your own polite message and send to larry@sunsationsusa.com today!
Thanks to you, last week three Virginia Beach Sunsations stores were flooded with phone calls for the wild hermit crabs who are languishing in cages right now. This week, it's time to take our message to corporate HQ directly and make sure they know that beach-goers are turning their backs on animal cruelty!
At Sunsations, hermit crabs are sold in crowded cages, piled on top of one another, and denied everything natural to them. Some tourists have even reported finding broken limbs and crabs with little or no water available to them. Let's make sure Sunsations hears the 50,000 people who have signed this petition for these complex animals loud and clear!
Send a quick email TODAY to Corporate Manager Larry Bublick (larry@sunsationsusa.com) and tell him to stop selling delicate hermit crabs. Use our sample below or your own polite message.
Sample email:
Dear Mr. Bublick,
I'm writing as a concerned citizen to urge you to stop selling wild hermit crabs. Since land hermit crabs rarely breed in captivity, these sensitive animals are ripped from the tropical seashore to be sold in tiny cages, where they will often die in months instead of their 30-year natural lifespan. Shoppers this summer have reported finding crowded conditions and even broken limbs from these delicate animals in your stores. Instead of warm beaches with miles of sand, hermit crabs sold by Sunsations are given little more than a plastic palm tree and some gravel--just so you can turn a profit. I will be getting my souvenirs elsewhere until you stop selling hermit crabs! Thank you.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME
Let us know how if you get a response by emailing contact@plightofthehermies.org. Thanks so much for your compassion! And if you're local to Virginia, we hope to see you at our protest this weekend (http://bit.ly/2mCAa6X)!
