This tribute in support of the Sundararājāsana Project deserves a special mention indeed. It is such a great joy to know that Guruji BKS Iyengar is being honoured even in Antarctica! Marco Buttu is an electronic engineer for the National Institute of Astrophysics (Italy) currently on a mission at Concordia Station in Antarctica! Together with other 12 people he is part of a study that monitors how the body adapts to extreme conditions in view of future manned missions to Mars. Antarctica is one of the remotest parts of the planet and has the most hostile climate. In winter temperatures can go as low as - 90 (real feel) and for 4 months is completely dark. No other form of life apart from them. The group will be isolated from the rest of the world for 9 months with no possibility of being rescued even in case of an emergency. How does Marco cope with all that? He is a devoted yoga practitioner who has welcomed this challenge as a great opportunity to explore the Universe without and within. Thank you so much for supporting the Sundararājāsana Project Marco! Marco is also a talented writer (his diary from Antarctica is both touching and inspiring) and an amazing photographer (check out his Facebook profile for his stunning photography). Did I forget to mention he is from Sardinia? You can follow him on Facebook. All photos are covered by copyright (Marco Buttu PNRA IPEV) and cannot be reproduced without his permission.
