Hi all, I just wanted to reach out to let you know we’ve just passed 1,316 signatures on our petition! Thank you so much for your support!

Below is an update on the proposed project from Gary Peacock who is the person who really got this snowball rolling and attended the County Council Review yesterday afternoon.

As Gary reported on his Nextdoor post last night: "the meeting started with the County Attorney telling the County Councilors that they could not open or respond to the 200 emails they have received this past week. The attorney said they would be able to look at them on the day of the public comments meeting. After the meeting I was allowed to speak and we reached an agreement that the Councilors could read the email as they come in as long as the developer also received a copy. I think this is a good compromise so at least the County Councilors will be will be reading our emails. Then meeting got bogged down in all kinds of details but towards the end, the two sides started to debate the main issue. Everyone, including the developer agreed there would major traffic issues in Kimball until UDOT starts to build the number 3 option which is an underpass built under 224 to bypass the two lights at Ute and Olympic. That could take 7 to 10 years but no less than 7. The developer tried to say that they cannot wait for the UDOT project to be built as they need a return from their 10's of millions of dollars investment in the site. Some members of the council pushed back and said that the might have to wait to build. It seems to be true that the Phase One building which is an 85sqft building can be build being passed on developers rights but the rest of project requires approval of the County. Its easy to see where Councilors sit on approval denial , it still seems to 4 to 1 to approve but some wavering from one of the councilors. The public comment meeting has been moved from Nov 17 since the Council has a lot of work do in subcommittees including a review and redlining the development agreement. Could be this meeting gets pushed in Dec or even Jan since budget discussions start soon.. The one summary of the project was that the developers were told when they purchased this property they would have to mitigate traffic and now 3 years later the issue is still the number issue and totally unresolved. They were told to come back with a mitigation strategy but there is none at this point."

Given this we need to continue to sign the petition, get your friends and family to do this (text and phone calls will work best) and call your Councilor, send emails and come to the public comment meeting.

Also we are going to need a huge crowd to demonstrate to the council that the residents are totally opposed to this project no mater the minor tweaks they make. If the meeting gets pushed out far enough it will give a chance to organize and focus on the specific issues in letters to the editor. If you are interested in being a part of organization to fight this and down the road other developments that make sense for Park City contact Gary via Nextdoor.

We are long way from vote to deny but I think its still possible to stop it with the combined will of the residents of Park City and Summit County. We need all of you that have read these posts to spread the word. The more we get the more we will be successful.

Will you help me to get more support by sharing this petition with ten other people? If enough of us sign we can’t be ignored! Here’s a link to share https://www.change.org/p/summit-county-council-say-no-to-3-000-new-residents-and-their-cars-at-kimball-junction
