The citizens of Sullivan, Illinois have taken up arms against the local First Apostolic Church for putting up a sign that read, “God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve” 

Recently, a petition was even started to try and remove Rev. F.D. Farney from said church. This is an ignorant act, because the sign was approved by the congregation, not the Reverend. 

Furthermore, this quote was introduced by a FICTIONAL BRITISH TELEVISION CHARACTER, named Alan Partridge. Maybe there should be a petition against him too? 

I believe my peers in Sullivan should be ashamed of themselves. They are actively trying to ruin someone’s life for having a different set of opinions and beliefs than them. It is ironic that they are shaming someone for their beliefs when that is what they got angry for in the first place.

The point of this petition is not to get more signatures than the other, or any signatures at all! Although anyone is welcomed to sign, this petition was made for the sole purpose of calling out how ridiculous the other petition is and showing everyone that our community is forgiving and stands against those who wish to turn us against each other.

Those who sign this petition are not people who agree with what was said on the sign, they are people who recognize that the best way to make a difference is through love, not hate. They are people who would rather sit down with the church and come to an understanding. They are people who do not want to see our town divided. They are not the type of people to persecute others for having different beliefs.
