Dear supporters,

After two months without clarity from Subway staff, 10 volunteers staged a protest in front of Subway Headquarters (PT. MAP Boga Adiperkasa Tbk) on Feb 22, asking Subway to ditch battery cages. 

The demonstration, with one volunteer trapped inside a tiny cage, represented the reality of egg-laying hens in the battery cage system: with barely any room to move in a filthy cage. Two volunteers in costumes similar to Subway’s staff uniform held bloody sandwiches to show how unacceptable Subway’s lack of cage-free commitment in Indonesia is. 

During the street action, they asked us for a meeting inside the building and said that Subway Global doesn’t require Subway Indonesia to have a cage-free policy.

This is unacceptable. We all know that hens suffer in battery cages no matter which country they are in. Subway is already ditching cages in many countries, why not in Indonesia?
