The library dean permitted us to add some wooden chairs to the room, which aren't very accessible. They also eventually added a few more chairs from around the library. Rather than allowing the room to be used as a reasonable accommodation for students with 504 plans who desperately need it, they removed the code as of January 2024. Students who have admitted they don't have disabilities have, on several occasions, tried to trick students with disabilities and DRS staff, aiding those students into believing they had to schedule the room online ahead of time to be in the room. It is the 50th anniversary of section 504, and this is an embarrassing move on the part of DRS and Suzzallo Library, as students without disabilities are occupying the space, preventing students with disabilities from utilizing the room that is meant to be a reasonable accommodation. If the door code is to stay removed to keep it a space for students with disabilities, there should still at least be the disclosure of having a disability regardless of documentation to access the room. They should also reinstate the resources for students with disabilities.
