Summary: The University Of Pretoria has decided to close Oom Gerts to make way for a study centre.

The issue: We, the students of the University of Pretoria, are devestated that UP has opted for the closure of “Oom Gerts”. As part of student life, we find the welcoming nature of the pub a comfort to the burdens of academic life. 

Also:

There is a woman who has worked 35 years at Oom Gert. THIRTY FIVE YEARS. From 15 December 2018 she will be unemployed. She and several other employees will be part of the 27.5% unemployed SA citizens (6.2 Million people are currently unemployed).

The University has absolute no plans in place to employ these workers.
