Meeting Executive Board

Unfortunately, the meeting with the Executive Board that they invited us to, which was scheduled to take place yesterday, was canceled in the morning by the Executive Board. Long story short: we could not agree on safe meeting conditions for both parties, and on transparency of the contents of the meeting.

Long story long: Almost two months ago, we sent a letter to the EB and SB, after which we received an invite from both the EB and SB for a meeting. The EB initially proposed to meet less than 2 days later, but since this was too short notice, we agreed on meeting yesterday, August 29. On July 16th, the EB asked us to propose an agenda by August 16th. Thus, we (internally within students and staff for safety) had several meetings, and proposed a detailed meeting agenda on August 16th by email (2 weeks before the meeting date) asking if they wanted to add anything and who of them would be present. We also added:

“We expect the meeting to be in English, and one of us will chair the meeting. Furthermore, since the Plan for Change indicates that transparency is important to achieve a socially safe environment and we represent a large part of the TU Delft community, we have invited Delta to be present and report objectively on this meeting.”

We heard nothing, despite a follow-up email from our side on August 22. A day later, we read in Delta that a spokesman of the EB would contact us. We heard nothing from the EB directly, until Tuesday morning (3 days ago). We received an extensive email from Tim, in which he proposed a, according to us, completely different meeting than what we were initially invited for, and they wanted it behind closed doors, without Delta present. We replied Wednesday morning that it is essential for us that the meeting would not be held behind closed doors and that having an objective party reporting on the meeting is necessary to create an open and inclusive safe environment and to communicate the details of this meeting to the broader TU Delft community we represent. This morning they replied that having a reporter from Delta at the meeting would not feel safe for them and that today’s meeting was canceled. They did agree that an objective party should be present, but nothing was mentioned about publicly reporting on this meeting.

We, students and staff for safety, are still willing to meet with them when the presence of a third independent party, who is able to publicly report on the meeting, is guaranteed.

Meeting Supervisory Board

A meeting with the Supervisory Board has still not been scheduled. After their invitation for a meeting, we replied the same day that we were willing to meet after mid of August. As we did not hear from them after our holidays, we sent a reminder on August 13. Unfortunately, we have not heard from them yet.

Update poll

Thank you for your input via the poll! Up until now, we have received 46 responses. We will summarize the results and share this next week.
