Update on the Tree Petition

It's been less than two days, and already more than 100 people have signed our petition - most of them neighbors right here in Somerville!

As momentum has picked up, I've published a pair of posts on Medium:

Hopefully these can drive conversation and help to inform folks both about what has happened and about what we hope for the future.

Immediately after posting this update, I plan to download a PDF of the petition and signatures and send it to both the State Forester (who decides our award status with Arbor Day) and also to the Mayor.  I will be asking for a face to face meeting to discuss next steps and how to make 2019 the first net-zero year for tree loss in Somerville.
