National Fox Day is our day to celebrate these beautiful animals.
The red fox is one of the most iconic animals of the British countryside. Seen in all corners of the UK these bushy-tailed wily canines have adapted to the growing human population, with many foxes becoming urbanised, living in gardens, sheds, derelict buildings and eating almost anything they can find.
These wonderful animals have learnt to adapt to their surroundings, they have learnt to survive despite the depletion of their natural habitat, they have learnt to live amongst humans. They are truly wonderful animals, and it is why we love them so much.
Sadly, despite their efforts to co-exist with humans, some humans are unable to reciprocate a mutual respect. Despite it being illegal, every year thousands of foxes are the victims of hunts, where these animals are chased from their homes, often having to leave their families and young behind, they are terrified from the pursuit of hounds. When they are finally too exhausted to fight anymore, they are defenceless against the hunts, and killed for no other reason than human entertainment.
We will not rest until they have the protection they deserve. That’s why today, National Fox Day, we are asking everyone to support our efforts to build a more compassionate future for wild foxes. Whether it’s a donation or an adoption, every little helps.
