The Issue

Because mental health care should be accessible to everyone—not only to those who can afford it.

Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, yet accessing professional support can still be difficult for many people because of cost, availability, limited information, or fear of seeking help.

Cagayan de Oro City already has psychosocial services and mental health resources, but we believe these services can be further strengthened and made more accessible to the people who need them.

We are calling for stronger community-based therapy and counseling services throughout Cagayan de Oro City, including more accessible services in local communities, affordable options for students and low-income residents, stronger referral systems, and greater public awareness of available mental-health support.

Under the Philippine Mental Health Act (Republic Act No. 11036), people have the right to access affordable mental health and social services, while local government units are tasked with integrating mental health care into basic health services and developing appropriate mental health programs.

We are asking for:

✅ More accessible counseling and therapy services
✅ Affordable or free options for those who cannot afford private services
✅ Stronger mental-health programs in communities and barangays
✅ Better referral systems between schools, health centers, hospitals, and professionals
✅ Increased awareness of legitimate mental-health resources
✅ Continued support for students and young people seeking professional help

Therapy should not feel like a luxury. Seeking help should be a normal, accessible, and supported choice.

If you believe that every Kagay-anon deserves a fair opportunity to access professional mental-health support, please sign this petition and share it with others.

Every voice matters. Every mind matters. Every person deserves support. :)
