Ensure ongoing studies about Kjeller in Norway – world’s oldest airbase.
To ensure that the ongoing studies and processes currently being carried out in the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Culture and the Directorate for Cultural Heritage may be completed, and before irreversible decisions are made concerning the future of Kjeller Airport, we urge the Storting (Norwegian Parliament) and the Government of Norway to postpone deliberations and a decision on a possible closure of Kjeller Airport to the next revision of the Long Term Plan (LTP) scheduled to take place in 2020.
Kjeller is the world's oldest airbase with air battalions, aircraft factory and flight schools – an unique world heritage – with continuous flying activities since 1912.
For the best decision, a knowledge-based decision taking into account the results from ongoing studies and the best interests of our children and coming generations, any decisions regarding Kjeller should be postponed until 2020 and the next revision of the Norwegian Armed Forces Long-Term Plan for the defense sector.
