For 11 months different individuals and groups around Lansdown have been pleading with the council to reconsider this foolhardy scheme. To say that just because an LTN idea exists doesn't make it a good one or a safe one. To listen and work with residents to get to something that works for everyone. Unfortunately, despite 3400 of you objecting, hundreds writing letters, it going to court, an independent safety report being commissioned and delivered to the council confirming the risks, and this scheme breaking the terms of its funding and guidance on LTNs generally, it's been met with intransigence.
We're heartened that these points were listened to by the media today on both ITV and Somerset Live.
But regrettably nothing seems to have an impact on the council. They plan to go ahead with the trial tomorrow, 6th November. Please keep an eye out for what are clearly going to be a series of risky journeys on foot, cycle, or by car and help us gather photos and video data to show what's always been obvious to us all.
