Hi everyone -
This is an update on the Verizon cell tower appeal for a zoning variance. Verizon was scheduled to begin presenting their case to the LMT Zoning hearing board on Tuesday January 16th. This will NOT occur.
Verizon has asked for a continuance best described as an “indefinite suspension” of their appeal. I have this confirmed from the attorneys involved in this matter. The Verizon appeal application remains active, it has not been withdrawn, but there will be no date set for the next hearing on the matter.
Verizon will work with LMT to pursue other technology solutions that improve cellular service but avoid the need for a 155 foot tower. I believe our efforts to get the LMT Board of Supervisors to take a position in opposition to the appeal had a lot to do with this and was the result of efforts from many of the people on this distribution list.
This appears to be good news overall but still not at a clear conclusion on the matter. We will try to keep you posted on the progress of Verizon and LMT to find a solution suitable to parties involved. Again there is no need to participate in the Jan 16th ZHB meeting for this appeal.
