We did it! Today the “Villages Plan” was rejected by City Council. ABC listened to this community - residents across Vancouver who spoke out against this plan. They said they heard loud and clear that this wasn’t the right plan for Vancouver.
Council didn’t revise the plan, they cancelled it. This is a win for neighbourhoods, property rights, our tree canopy, local shops and community voices.

This isn’t the end. We need to take this and the multiplex issue to the ballot box this October. OneCity made their stance clear - six floors and corner stores is their motto. Lucy Maloney also voted against the multiplex review despite mounting evidence of harm.
Pete Fry of the Green Party commented in today’s hearing that he thought the community consultation was good and that he wants to see apartment buildings all over the City, not just in villages. Fry also failed to show up to the multiplex review and has not engaged with Smart Density despite repeated attempts to get him concerned about the loss of Vancouver's tree canopy.
We will continue to try to engage all candidates and keep you up-to-date on their positions. Let’s make sure this October our voices are heard loud and clear.
