There is a huge cancer backlog of 100,000 cancer patients and UK charities have warned it will take 5 years to clear. This is far too long and I am gravely concerned not enough is being done to tackle it. Right now cancer waiting times are the longest they’ve ever been.

The COVID pandemic has led to an unprecedented backlog in cancer diagnosis and treatment and without urgent action, experts warn that tens of thousands of cancer patients will die unnecessarily, and cancer survival rates could be put back 10 to 15 years.

A crisis of this scale needs Government attention and investment and we need it now.
