Our privacy as women is extremely important to us. Many of us in the girls’ hostel often dress in relaxed or skimpy attire, feeling secure within our own space. Unfortunately, we have been facing the unsettling occurrence of men entering our living quarters unannounced, which has left us feeling vulnerable and exposed. This is especially troubling as the majority of us are Muslim women who observe particular privacy practices.

We understand that these men often come to work, however it is crucial that our living space remains a sanctuary where we can feel at ease and respected. Allowing men access to the hostel without any restrictions or prior notification violates our comfort and undermines our right to privacy. It is unsettling to have to anticipate a potential encounter with someone who may invade our space at any given moment.

We propose the implementation of a policy that restricts male access to the hostel. This policy should specify designated visiting times, ensuring that all residents are informed well in advance of any scheduled visits. Such a system would safeguard our privacy while maintaining a respectful and secure environment for everyone involved.

This is not just about creating a safe space; it is about respecting our needs and choices as individuals. We urge the management to consider the cultural practices of the majority residing within the hostel and to take immediate action to rectify this issue.
