The Edgewood council is going to have a study session regarding the traffic enforcement cameras on Tuesday, August 19 @ 7 pm.

I'm interested to see if they bring up the fact that they lost $46,000 in 2024 running the cameras at Edgemont.  If they did not know it,  it implies a breakdown in financial oversight or if they did, an intentional lack of disclosure, both of which demand a public explanation.

I'd also like to hear if they explain why half the $166 infractions they issued were for 24 and 25 mph and what would happen if they stopped doing that. Hint: they wouldn't make enough to pay an Arizona company the $399,000 to run them. These are speeds an officer would rarely ticket.

No public comment or participation will be allowed during the study session — which means the discussion will be entirely in the council and staff's hands.

I’ve shared these facts with several council members, but their responses so far suggest they haven’t been swayed. That’s why it’s important for other residents to attend in person and hear firsthand how the cameras are being justified and funded.

Meeting Date: Tuesday, August 19
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Edgewood City Hall

Even if we can’t speak, our presence sends a clear message: the community is paying attention.
