We have been visiting city and town clerks to get real samples and instructions on how to file petitions of their selectboards by citizens of Vermont.  The petitions must have at least 5% of registered voters in each town and city in order to meet Vermont petition law 24 VSA % 2691 for these petitions of each town’s voters to create the ‘requisite town warning’ and to be placed on the Australian ballot if used by the first week in January.

These are signatures necessary to get the ‘stop polluting our skies legal language’ placed in the town warning in March.  We Visited Vergennes, Ferrisburg, Bristol and Middlebury collecting petition examples and the number of signatures required.  All the clerks and in the town and city offices were very helpful.

Perhaps school kids can learn about Vermont’s truly Democratic process of citizen action making a direct impact on laws of Vermont!
