Despite being a survivor, Dawn is now under strict house arrest with an electronic monitoring bracelet and forcibly separated from her child, forced to pay $1,200 in “supervision” fees to see them. All charges against Dawn should be dropped. Her situation reflects a systematic failure to support her when she was most in need. Dawn has not failed anyone; the system has failed her as it does so often with Indigenous women, women of colour and LGBTQIA2S+.
