We did it!!!!

With your help and support we did it!!! We officially turned in 1,289 petitions with original signatures which totals more than the 10% required to get our citizen-led referendum on the ballot.

What the citizen-led referendum will do is add the property north of the dog park to the COVB Charter Properties, and it will also add a layer of protection to all City Charter Properties, to limit an increase in any current structure to no more than 20% without voter approval.

We have successfully accomplished this very big first step… but it still is only the beginning.

Next the Supervisor of Elections will validate, hopefully in the timeline required, the submitted petitions which we have carefully and meticulously verified ourselves against the voters list. Then the referendum language gets submitted to be printed on the November Ballot.

As soon as we receive the anticipated notification of validation you will be the first to know.

Next steps: Educate the voters to VOTE YES!

Each and every one of us has and can continue to play a pivotal role.  Educating and enlisting support from our circle of friends, acquaintances and family members, and continuing to collect petitions and work community events to spread the word – Our voice does matter and it will be heard!

We need to continue to bring city residents together as we advocate to preserve the integrity of our neighborhoods, the health of the lagoon, and the unique quality of life that makes Vero Beach so special for us and for the future generations to come.
