La causa

For far too long, Jackson Reed High School has increasingly relied on generative AI for creating flyers, T-shirts, and even assignments on Canvas. This practice not only sidelines the talent and creativity of our students but also diminishes valuable learning opportunities provided by our esteemed Graphic Design Academy.

At Jackson Reed, we are fortunate to have a thriving community of young designers, brimming with potential and eager to contribute their skills to real-world projects. These students possess the energy and creativity necessary to produce remarkable artwork and designs that reflect our school's spirit and values.

By depending on AI-generated content, we are denying these students the chance to apply their skills, brainstorm ideas, and see the tangible results of their hard work. Moreover, it erodes the hands-on experience that is essential for their academic growth and future career opportunities in the creative industry.

Recent studies have shown that schools that incorporate student-made designs in their projects report higher levels of student engagement and satisfaction. By allowing our students to take part in these creative processes, we nurture their abilities, boost their confidence, and prepare them for successful futures.

Therefore, we urge the administration at Jackson Reed High School to consider the immense individual and collective talent we have on campus and to prioritize student involvement in all design-related projects. It is time to empower our students by placing value on human creativity and ingenuity over artificial solutions.

Let us call for a policy change that mandates the use of student-generated work for school projects wherever possible. We owe it to our students to offer them the best chance to hone and showcase their talents.

Sign this petition to advocate for the cessation of generative AI usage at Jackson Reed High School, and ask that we return these creative opportunities to our deserving students.
