Dear Supporter,
We are deeply concerned about the recent tax proposals from Keir Starmer's government, including the introduction of a 'pay-per-mile' system and fuel duty hikes this October. These changes will impact all of us who rely on vehicles—whether for work, caregiving, or business—by increasing costs and threatening our privacy.
This new policy unfairly targets those who drive longer distances, such as rural residents, delivery drivers, and small business owners. It risks making essential travel more expensive, and could lead to a rise in the use of older, more polluting vehicles. Moreover, the invasion of privacy through tracking mileage adds to the concern of an emerging surveillance state.
We urge the government to reconsider these proposals and ask for your continued support in opposing this threat to our livelihoods and freedoms.
