It's been almost a year since the financial impact of the strata insurance crisis became became clear. Many strata owners have seen staggering increases to premiums and deductibles for strata insurance for building and unit insurance.
As we move into renewals, please send us your stories of:
- Your building's insurance renewal process including changes to coverage, premiums, deductibles and resulting increase to your monthly strata maintenance fees
- Changes to rent as a result of strata insurance
- Increased expenses or requirements by the insurance broker/insurer as a condition of insurance
- Any issues buying, selling or obtaining a mortgage due to strata insurance
As you know, we should be seeing the start of legislation and the BCFSA's final report on the strata insurance market in BC this Fall.
We've continued to get our messages and your stories around strata insurance to the BC Financial Services Authority, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and other stakeholders.
We will be communicating your stories to them to illustrate the impact of legislation and work around strata insurance that's been done to date.
