Help us get more people to tell the Council not to sell the waterfront site for a supermarket

Dear friend

Thank you for your support with our campaign to stop Argyll and Bute Council selling off Common Good land at Helensburgh's waterfront for a supermarket development.

Argyll and Bute Council have opened a public consultation to hear our views on this proposal. 

There are three things you can do to help us safeguard the site for community benefit for future generations:

1. Complete Argyll and Bute Council's consultation.

Helensburgh Community Council recommends you respond with the following precise wording to minimise any confusion:

I object to the proposed disposal of the Helensburgh Waterfront Common Good land. I do not support any sale or commercial development, including for a supermarket. The site has not lost its Common Good character. This land should remain protected as Common Good property and be retained for the benefit of the people of Helensburgh. I ask the Council to preserve its Common Good status and ensure it continues to be used for public benefit and public use. 

If you can add a sentence or two about why this land matters to you and how you use it, that would be even better.

2.  Encourage all your friends, neighbours and family to complete the consultation.

3. Put up a poster about the sale of our Common Good land and how to protect it.

Show everyone you are supporting this campaign and encourage them to complete the consultation by putting a poster in your window or giving out a few leaflets at local events you are going to.
