Dear Supporter

We asked you to collect 5000 signatures on our petition to stop the supermarket on Helensburgh's waterfront - and you did!

This is an outstanding achievement for a town of 15,000, with 1 in 3 residents calling for the supermarket proposals to be scrapped.

Unfortunately, Argyll and Bute Council continues to ignore our concerns. The Council Leader, Jim Lynch, has still not agreed to meet with Helensburgh Community Council, despite repeated requests.

Next Thursday, Argyll and Bute Council's Policy and Resources Committee is meeting in Lochgilphead, and it is chaired by Council Leader Jim Lynch. Councillor Ross Moreland, Depute Council Leader and Policy Lead for Finance and Commercial Services, who is championing the supermarket development in Helensburgh, will also be in attendance. This committee has the power to pause the development and review the process to take community concerns into account.

With 5000 supporters behind us, Helensburgh Community Council is determined to get your voices heard.

We would like to invite you to join us in Lochgilphead at 10am to welcome councillors to the Policy and Resources Committee and sit in the public gallery so we cannot be ignored.

We need as many people as possible to join us in Lochgilphead at 10am at Argyll and Bute Council's office in Kilmory. Will you join us?

You can find all the details about the Policy and Resources Committee meeting here

If you would like to find out more or need a lift to Lochgilphead, please contact Helensburgh Community Council here.

We look forward to seeing you in Lochgilphead!

Best wishes,

Helensburgh Community Council (it's some of us in the photo!)
