Avalon celebrates INDEERPENDENCE Day and more great news!
As our Country celebrated the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation this weekend, which is arguably the biggest day of the year in Avalon on Catalina Island, many residents and visitors old and new had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to our entry in the famous 4th of July golf cart parade. It was a fun way to get the message out about our ongoing efforts. We thank you all for your support and please help us spread the word at this critical time in the fight to hold the Catalina Island Conservancy to task in their ongoing efforts to eradicate the deer on Catalina.

This is where we are friends. Three years, thousands of hours in donated time, and most importantly the endless willingness of YOU to raise your voices against the Catalina Island Conservancy have produced incredible results. Elected officials all the way from City of Avalon council members to state and federal representatives have heard our concerns. Many have taken official stances supporting the entirely reasonable and common sense demand that the California Department of Fish and Wildlife pause the current plan in order to conduct a full CEQA review. It is quite simply the right thing to do. We are now entering our most critical time! Our fight is now in the courts. We have and will continue to do everything we can but our newest challenge is the need to raise funds for the scientific and legal services beyond the capabilities of our volunteers.
