Here is the completely upside down answer from SEPAQ. The reality is, culling is ineffective and non lethal work much better long term. We would ask people boycott SEPAQ parks until this “Pest Control Down To A Science” ends.
Greetings,
Thank you for taking the time to send us your comments.
The decision to conduct population control operations for white-tailed deer in the Mont-Saint-Bruno and Îles-de-Boucherville national parks is based on the overabundance of deer, which poses a threat to biodiversity, public safety, and health. Non-lethal methods such as exclusion (fencing), repellents, scare tactics, artificial feeding, sterilization, and contraception do not effectively reduce the deer population. These methods may temporarily manage the issue but do not solve it. It is necessary to reduce the deer population. The chosen population control operation is proven, scientifically recognized, respectful to the animals, and has been used in similar circumstances elsewhere.
Kind regards,
Jessica
